The Amber Extreme heat warning has been extended by the Met Office as temperatures look to build later this week and early next week.
Shoppers at Leeds Kirkgate Market have been demanding ice from fish counters in the “unbearable” heat.
Traders have said that the hot weather has kept customers away from the market. However, those who have arrived have been demanding the ice from beneath fish at fish counters to keep their purchased produce fresh.
As temperatures are predicted to reach 30 degrees celsius during the weekend, traders say they are expecting business to get even worse.
