The official Twitter account for Sony responded to the #MakeTASM3 fan campaign.
When Spider-Man: No Way Home hit the cinemas in December 2021, fans around the world saw the return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Mans appear alongside Tom Holland.
This appearance reignited fans’ love for the two prior actors and sparked an interest in seeing their versions of Spider-Man continue their franchises. Especially for Andrew Garfield, fans began a campaign on Twitter, spreading the #MakeTASM3 hashtag in the hopes that Andrew Garfield would get a complete trilogy.
He last played Peter Parker in 2014 in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the sequel was met with mixed reviews and an underwhelmed box office based on Sony’s expectations. This led to Sony agreeing to work with Marvel Studios in order to reboot Spider-Man within the MCU, meaning that Andrew Garfield’s time as Spider-Man came to an end.
After Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans are more interested than ever to see the original plans for Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man to continue, leading to the growing campaign to make an Amazing Spider-Man 3.
For the last few months, fans have continued to tweet Sony with the #MakeTASM3 campaign, showing their undying interest in the reboot.
Sony’s official Twitter account responded playfully to the campaign in a tweet announcing that Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available on digital platforms: “The Amazing Peter #3! (Note: Yes, we’ve seen the hashtag. No, we don’t decide which movies get made. We’re just the social team) #SpiderManNoWayHome is now on Digital, and coming to 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 12”
Fans are still waiting to see if the #MakeTASM3 campaign amounts to anything, but those supporting the movement might at least take solace in knowing that Sony sees the support for a possible Amazing Spider-Man 3.
