Chester Falcons still on the hunt for their first win of the season after Eagle Team UK came from behind to secure a point

By James Fletcher

This weekend there was only one game that was played due to the Manchester game being cancelled. As the attention turned onto the Chester Falcons as they play host to Eagle Team UK who’ll be looking to carry on their ruthless scoring streak after their demolition of Leeds Super Eagles the weekend before.

As for the Chester Falcons who’re still searching for their first win of the season after this 3-3 draw against Eagle Team UK. But it’s a greater improvement from the result the week before when they lost to Eagle Team’s local rivals East Riding 22-0.

This game started very brightly for Chester Falcons going into the halftime break 2 nil to the good scoring from two defensive mistakes as Lao pounced on a miss-kick to slot home from close range and Jones got the second as a long-range effort, slips through the keeper’s legs to trickle in for two. But Eagle Team UK keeper will’ve thought he could’ve done more to prevent those goals as they went into the second period with it all to do.

I asked Maksimas Barinovas the Head coach of Eagle Team UK what he said to his players at half time, and this is what he told me:

“They were very emotional at the end of the first half, and I told them they need to calm down and don’t rush. Don’t chase the ball. We can come back from this because two zero in futsal is just like 0-0. We need to come back and feed our strikers.”

And it didn’t take long for Eagle Team UK to strike back early in the second half as Madajewski scored a long-ranged freekick just on the halfway line, which rocketed into the top corner to make it 2-1.

Then Cananu scored his own freekick, just outside the area beating a 3-man wall and the keeper to find the top corner which made it 2-2 and then added his second of the game from another set-piece which was well working into the centre where he had the time to find the back of the net.

It looked as though Chester Falcons would go another game without a win as they looked as though they threw away the first-half lead and now find themselves behind once more in the second period. But Jones came to the rescue as he latched on to a lobbed ball to the far post and Jones slotted home to rescue a point for the Chester Falcons.

Eagle Team UK will feel that this was 3 points lost after their emphatic win the other weekend against Leeds Super Eagles. And missed out on a chance to climb up the table towards the playoff places.

Next weekend only two games to be played on the 19th Leeds Super Eagles travel to York Vikings and East Riding hoping to keep a firm grasp on top of the league as they host Poulton Victoria.
