LNFS Weekly Roundup

By James Fletcher

Catch us if you can!! That is the war cry from the East Riding Head Coach Dave Lawtey, as their current good form sees them top of the tree during the busy Christmas Period. While fellow rivals Eagle Team UK also hit for 20, as they banish their recent poor results against Leeds Super Eagles.

East Riding’s recent run of results sees them climb to the top of the tree going into the Christmas period. Yesterday East Riding made sure of the result as they smashed 22 goals past a struggling Chester Falcons who still haven’t managed a win this season and look condemned to finish bottom this season.

Dave Lawtey couldn’t praise his team enough after this emphatic victory he spoke with me after the game stating:

“I’m amazingly proud of the team, we have a squad of around 18 players, and everyone has played their part in leading the team to the top. But the hard work starts here trying to stay top of the league. we believe that goal difference will play a big part come to the end of the season, so we kept at them relentlessly.”

Mr. Lawtey went on to say that there are 3 or 4 really good teams in this year’s league, but we are the ones to catch right now.

Other results this weekend saw local rivals of East Riding also bag themselves 20 goals as they saw off a very lackluster Leeds side. To move just within 3 points of climbing into the playoff places. A well-drilled and disciplined Eagle Team UK made light work of Leeds Super Eagles and banished their recent bad run of results for Eagle Team UK, playing 10 games so far this season winning 4 and losing 6.

The other two results of the day saw Sheffield fall to their second defeat of the season as they fell short against York Vikings. Now finding themselves 2nd in the league, as they go into the Christmas break. The final result of the day saw Jogabola continue their little slump in form as they drew to Sunderland Foundation of Light, and this means that Sunderland falls out of the playoff places to York Vikings and Jogabola drop back down to third in the league.

The next load of Futsal games kicking off on the 12th of December sees Chester Falcons host Eagle Team UK as they look to break into the playoff pack. And Manchester returns to action in a long time as they look to start climbing up the table with a home fixture against Poulton Victoria. Finally, Jogabola host the Leeds Super Eagles who’ll be looking to take the bitter taste of defeat after their recent result.
