LNFS Weekly Roundup

By James Fletcher

East Riding move up to 2nd within just goal difference of league leaders Sheffield. And Poulton Victoria get their season underway with a win away at Warrington.

East Riding move up to second after their resounding win over Sunderland Foundation of light 11 – 5 at home to overtake Jogabola who drop to third after their defeat to Eagle Team UK. And Poulton Victoria get their own season underway with a win away to Warrington.

With only 3 games being played this weekend, let’s start at the top with Sheffield not playing this weekend it let Jogabola open to overlap them for only the second time this season and regain the top spot. But a narrow defeat at the hands of Eagle team UK who’ve only managed 2 wins this season before this game miss out on the chance to climb above Sheffield. But we can’t take anything away from Eagle Team UK now is slowly moving up the table and currently sit 7th just 3 points off the playoff spots.

But Jogabola will see this game as 3 points lost who’ve before the last two games looked unbeatable becoming the team to beat as they are the only team to take points from the league leaders this season, but the last two results have been far from the desired effect.

East Riding who became the first team to beat Jogabola this season find themselves level on points with Sheffield after beating Sunderland on home soil as it were and look to be getting stronger as the season progresses with just over a third of the season gone already East Riding have only lost once this season along with Manchester and Sheffield and look to be good contenders to finish in the lay off spots.

The final game of the weekend saw Poulton Victoria bag their first win of the season in what was a very end-to-end game with Warrington. As both sides went on the offensive throughout the game it came down to who took their chances in the end, and it was Poulton Victoria who did. This was not a classic by any stretch of the imagination as both sides struggled to retain any momentum. Both sides looked threatening, but it was Poulton Victoria who stole the show with their finishing.

Warrington had their chances to get back into the game and at times it was toing and throwing with the scoreline but with Warrington squandering their chances and Poulton Victoria taking theirs. The scoreline looked more one-sided than the game suggested. With this result, Warrington find themselves dropping to 10th giving up their position to Poulton Victoria who now move up to 9th on 4 points.

This weekend coming up we have 4 fixtures for you, as the league leaders travel to York, Jogabola host Sunderland foundation of light who look to bounce back from their defeat. Eagle Team UK host Leeds Super eagles and finally bottom club Chester Falcons host high-flying East Riding. Its set to be another great weekend of Futsal.
