LNFS Weekly Roundup

By James Fletcher

Sheffield goes back on top of the league, while Sunderland Foundation of Light moves up into the playoff spots with their victory over the Chester Falcons. Only 3 points separate the top four teams.

Sheffield goes back on top of the league after their 14 -9 victory over the Leeds Super Eagles at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, and after a few days away it must be nice for Sheffield to be playing back at home and this victory means they go back on top of the league, with Jogabola’s game being postponed this weekend.

Jordan Wildey spoke on his team’s performance at the weekend saying:

“I was just happy we got the win at the end of the day, but when we got 5 nil up, we let them in by making silly mistakes that cost us goals. But it’s a win and we move onto next week.” Jordan Wildey said.

Both managers have said that they don’t really look at the table, but only look towards the next game with the philosophy of taking it game by game as it were.

The other game saw Sunderland add more misery to the Chester Falcons as its 5 games without a win for the Falcons and remain bottom of the league with a minus 39 goal difference. Sunderland finally moves into the play-off spots with this win level on points with East Riding and Jogabola, only 3 points off table topper Sheffield.

East Riding moves back into the playoff spots with their Derby 5 – 2 victory over Eagle Team UK, with just a quarter of the season gone we can start seeing who’s going to be in around the playoff spots come the end of the season. As many teams see themselves as promotion contenders.

Looking towards next week we see table-toppers travel away once again this time to Warrington whose had a tough time of late with only one victory to their name this season having played 7 games.

Jogabola travels to fellow play-off hopefuls East Riding as 2nd plays 3rd in this game, with only goal difference separating the two sides. But Jogabola is the only team not to lose a game this season but have only played 4 games so far this season so things could change once again in the league. Finally, York Vikings host Eagle Team UK in this mid-table clash.
